Silver Steel

In the UK, Silver Steel is also known as 'Tool Steel'. It can be used to manufacture mechanical equipment and elements like screwdrivers, punches, engravers, axles, pins, die posts, model parts, mild steel drills and taps, cutters, pinions, and many other mechanical instrument parts.

Silver Steel is not constructed only of “steel” as the name would imply; the name refers to the steel-like polished appearance of the centreless round bars with very close tolerances. The metal used in Silver Steel can be a varied composition of carbon, chromium, manganese, phosphorous, silicon, and sulphur. It is important to remember that the higher the carbon content found in Silver Steel, the stronger and more durable its benefits.

Bearing Shop UK provides Silver Steel in Imperial and Metric units, and is available in varying diameters and lengths. Our products are made according to the most current BS1407:1970 standards, generally known as the Specification for High Carbon Bright Steel (Silver Steel), to ensure long service life and durable carbon composition.
