Our 1/4" Silicon Nitride (Si3N4) ceramic balls are 30% lighter than steel and 40% stronger. Each ball is over 1000X more round than the best steel bearing of any type, grade or benchmark. In other words your hub will be smoother and last longer due to the balls not deforming and causing havok to your cup and cone.
We only recommend these bearings for road/TT bikes as the ceramic balls are more brittle than steel. This means they generally last less time in high shock applications, i.e. mountain biking
Please note that these are the same bearings supplied by cycle shops and found in very expensive kits supplied by all of the leading manufactures
Price is per loose ball. Most hubs use 18 balls, 9 per side. Most Bottom brackets use 22 balls, 11 per side.
